Blair Chalmers

Director, Innovations in Infrastructure, Marsh & McLennan Advantage, Insights
Traditional infrastructure delivers the essential assets and services upon which societies and economies are built. With growing global demand as a result of population growth and rising urbanization, the challenge of how to bring the public and private sector together to fund and deliver quality infrastructure has never been greater.

Based in Singapore, Blair leads the  Marsh & McLennan Advantage,  Insights agenda for innovations in infrastructure.  He believes that physical infrastructure can be described simply as essential assets and services for industry and society at large.  The topic of infrastructure financing and development is a dynamic dialogue driven by the interplay between climate change, the low carbon agenda, technological advancement and evolving societal demands.

Blair’s work has been published and quoted widely on the topic and his publication topics include the infrastructure financing gap, asset recycling, sustainable infrastructure, the impact of oil price fluctuations on industry and China’s Belt & Road Initiative.

He is also a regular speaker on the topic of global and emerging risks and has co-authored Evolving Risk Concerns in Asia-Pacific, an Asia-Pacific-focused adaptation of the World Economic Forum’s Global Risks Report for the last three years.

His previous role before joining the team was as a consultant in Oliver Wyman’s energy and transport practices working with clients around the world on a range of strategic and operational issues.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree in marketing management from Lancaster University.

When he’s not pursuing solutions to society’s toughest infrastructure challenges, Blair can be found running around in circles after his two young children.
