DAVID A. NADLER NAMED VICE CHAIRMAN OF MMC

 PDF of Press Release

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, January 18, 2007 — Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (NYSE: MMC) today announced that David A. Nadler has been appointed vice chairman, Office of the CEO, of MMC. Nadler assumes his new position immediately.

In his role as vice chairman, Nadler, 58, will co-lead with fellow vice chairman Mathis Cabiallavetta global efforts to leverage MMC's client relationships across its businesses. His focus will be developing new business opportunities from clients who would benefit from the company's market-leading positions in the fields of enterprise risk management and human capital consulting. Nadler will have primary responsibility for developing MMC's major North American account relationships. Cabiallavetta already serves a similar role internationally as chairman of MMC International.

Nadler will report to Michael G. Cherkasky, president and chief executive officer of MMC, and will serve as a member of the MMC executive committee. "Leveraging MMC's resources and relationships across all of our operating units is a key component of fueling additional growth and shareholder value for MMC," said Cherkasky. "David's talents are immense and he is uniquely qualified to co-lead this effort by virtue of his own professional work at the highest levels of business, his sterling professional reputation and his intimate knowledge of MMC's business."

Nadler will continue to directly serve clients as a senior partner and chairman of Mercer Delta Consulting, but a significant amount of his time will now be directed to his new duties as vice chairman.

Nadler said, "I'm very excited by this opportunity to work with our colleagues across all of the MMC businesses. We have great brands and outstanding professionals. I believe that by working together in a spirit of partnership, we can create even greater value for our clients." Nadler was the founder and CEO of the Delta Consulting Group, Inc., which in the year 2000 joined Marsh & McLennan Companies and became Mercer Delta Consulting, LLC.

Nadler consults at the CEO and board level, specializing in the areas of large-scale change, corporate governance, executive leadership, organization design, and executive team development. He has written numerous articles and book chapters, and has authored and/or edited 16 books, of which Building Better Boards is the most recent. In 2004, he co-chaired the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) Blue Ribbon Commission on Board Leadership.

Prior to Delta, Nadler was an associate professor at the Graduate School of Business, Columbia University. He holds a BA in international affairs from The George Washington University, an MBA from the Harvard Business School, and an MA and PhD in Psychology from the University of Michigan. He is a member of the Academy of Management and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association. He was named by Consulting Magazine as one of the 25 most influential consultants in 2004, and in 2005 was the recipient of the Distinguished Professional Contributions Award from the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and the Distinguished Scholar-Practitioner Award from the Academy of Management. He serves as vice president of the board of Prep for Prep, a program for the education of gifted minority children, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the New York City Ballet.
