Clair Olson is a director at Marsh McLennan Advantage where he works across our businesses to deliver unified client solutions as well as identify innovative technology, solutions, and companies with which to collaborate. He leads the group’s MMC-wide Insurer Growth Initiative and the Wildfire working group as well as advising on the M&A growth initiative. He also has a Western US region geography remit.
Clair has over 25 years of experience in international business, including consulting, marketing, mergers & acquisitions, corporate insurance broking, and management. He has lived and worked in the U.S., Asia, Europe and the Middle East, and speaks Japanese fluently.
Prior to joining the MMC Advantage group, Clair was COO of a US subsidiary of the Japanese HR and IT professional services firm and the US partner for the Dutch HR-tech platform Crunchr.
In the past, Clair ran the Japan Client Services unit in San Francisco and Oregon for Marsh, established the client management and M&A practices for Mercer and another professional services firm in Asia, and restructured and ran the marketing function in Asia-pacific for a major financial services firm. His M&A advisory background examining organizational and people risks including systems, pension liabilities, financial synergies, organizational design and culture is extensive. He has worked with companies across industries including high-tech; automotive; communications; oil, gas & petrochemical; steel; and finance.
Clair holds a B.A. from the University of Utah, and a master’s degree from the University of London, Birkbeck College in Organizational Behaviour.
